Understated Fur

I like that the fur on Porter's new winter coat is... understated.

Christmas Celebration

We enjoyed a lovely Christmas celebration at the Hope for Women Center, an incredible nonprofit organization we support in Scottsville, Kentucky. Mr. and Mrs. Claus even made an appearance!

Downtown Bowling Green

This evening, we enjoyed a stroll through Fountain Square Park in downtown Bowling Green. It was beautifully lit up for Christmas!

The Burger King Prince

You're never too old for a Burger King crown... as long as you only wear it at Burger King (or King's Burger as Stella calls it) and no one sees you except for your immediate family.

Happy Thanksgiving 2019

Happy Thanksgiving from our home to yours!

Outdoor Christmas Lights

Daddy's been working hard to get the Christmas lights up outside. It's really coming along!

Christmas Tree

The Christmas tree is up... before Thanksgiving.

The kids actually did a nice job with the ornaments this year (unlike years past when they would put 5 or more on the same branch).

Thanksgiving Luncheon

This year, the kids' elementary school hosted a Thanksgiving celebration where parents could have lunch with their children. Porter and Stella have different lunchtimes, so Daddy met with Stella, and I with Porter.

Daddy did a better job of taking pictures than I did, but we all had fun. It was a great event!

Faux Fur Rocking Girl

This girl knows how to rock some faux fur!

6-Year-Olds Be Crazy

Stella's first-grade school photos have arrived!

All in all, I think they are pretty cute.

Her hair looks uneven because she tucked one side behind her ear (something I reminded her not to do before school), but hey... 6-year-olds be crazy!

Handsome Nerd

Oh my goodness, Porter's fourth-grade school photos have arrived...

Brian and I just love these photos because they somehow fall between terrible and amazing! I don't think they capture the Porter we know and love, but they are entertaining none the less.

Oh, this kid... what a handsome nerd!

Thunderbolt Go-Karts

While at Adventure Alley, Daddy and the kids enjoyed a rather epic go-kart race. Here's everybody getting up to the starting line:

And they're off...

Watch out, Porter! Daddy's coming for you:

My Stinkers

They are stinkers, but they're my stinkers!

Adventure Alley

This weekend, we had the opportunity to visit Adventure Alley in Hendersonville, Tennessee. What a fun place! This was a J.M. Smucker Company hosted event, and it was awesome!

Stella absolutely loved the motorcycle racing game. She must have played it a dozen times!

Here's Porter enjoying the Bungee Jump:

The kids also loved bumping into each other on the bumper cars. We all had a wonderful time!

Snow Day

This is what constitutes a day off school due to snow in southern Kentucky:

Being a true northeast Ohioan, I took this photo in a t-shirt and flip flops, thank you very much!

Volunteering at the Humane Society

I recently signed the kids up to volunteer at the Bowling Green-Warren County Humane Society where they can help walk dogs and pets cats. Today was our first visit, and Porter and Stella walked a pair of kennel mates who were so sweet.

Crisp $50 Bill

Porter turned his $1's and $5's into the bank today for a crisp $50 bill! As you can see, he's pleased...

Every Step of the Way

Brian and I enjoyed a lovely stroll through Chuck Crume Nature Park today, while the kids enjoyed annoying us every step of the way...

Salt Dough Ornaments

Stella and I made salt dough ornaments today with cinnamon, ginger, cloves, nutmeg, and a few drops of orange essential oil. They smell amazing!

Fall Party at Chaney's

What a fun night! Brian's work hosted a fall party for all of its employees and their families at one of our favorite Bowling Green hot spots, Chaney's Dairy Barn. The kids dressed up for the occasion and enjoyed free ice cream!

King Porter and Princess Cinderella Stella

They also got to play on Chaney's air pillow for over an hour! They had it all to themselves for the first 5 minutes or so. They had a blast!

Cinderella Stella

Oh, this girl. She can melt even my cold heart!

Picture Day

It's school picture day, so Stella is in her favorite outfit!

Picture Perfect

Actually, that's a total lie. Stella is in her mom's favorite outfit. Stella had very different plans that involved sequins, glitter and fur.

Nashville Zoo

We had a fun visit at the Nashville Zoo today. The weather was absolutely fantastic, and the fresh air did our hearts some good.

I can't say that we really saw too many animals (we kindof speed-walked through the park), but we did enjoy the beautiful scenery.

Porter's Carousel Ride

Here's Porter on the carousel at the Nashville Zoo:

Fall Break Fun

While the kids are off school for fall break, we've tried to get out of the house as much as possible. Today, we headed up to Owensboro, Kentucky to enjoy the beautiful weather.

Kids in Downtown Owensboro

One of our stops was Reid's Orchard, and the kids had a wonderful time!

We walked through both a corn maze and a sunflower maze. The sunflowers were ginormous!

Dinosaur World Memento

Porter talked me into buying him a Dinosaur World memento:

Dinosaur World 2.0

The kids are on fall break, so we're trying to take as many mini (and cheap) adventures as possible.

Today we headed up to Cave City, Kentucky to visit Dinosaur World. This is our second trip to this park. We went once before on Stella's 5th birthday.

We had a lot of fun! Stella even dressed up for the occasion with a glitter dinosaur t-shirt.

Oh, these kids! They are such hams!

I took a lot of pictures while at Dinosaur World...

... much to the children's dismay!

However, if one of my children takes an egg hatching picture...

... you better believe the other must take an egg hatching picture. This is the law of siblings.

The kids also got to sift through sand looking for treasure. They both found several shark teeth that they were able to bring home.

It was a great adventure!
