Moving into Temp Housing

Today's the day! Not only is it my wonderful husband's birthday, it's also the day we move from living in a hotel to living in temp housing (which is just a 2-bedroom furnished apartment). We will be in this apartment for the next 30 days, and after that, we move into our Lexington home!

Although the view from our hotel window was pretty cool, I'm not going to miss living out of boxes!

None Sweeter

I think one would be hard-pressed to find a sweeter dog than Blu!

Our Sweet Puppy

Purple Lips & Chattering Teeth

Here are the kiddos warming up from their swim in the pool. Although the air temperature is in the mid-80's here in Lexington, the pool water is definitely on the chilly side. Of course, that wouldn't stop these kids from getting in their pool time fun (even with purple lips and chattering teeth).

Hotel Life

For the next couple of days, our family will be living at the Hilton Lexington Suites until our temporary housing opens up. Although I am not the biggest fan of hotel life, Brian and Blu have taken to it quite well.

Our Empty House

The movers have come and gone, and now our beloved Orrville home is emptied out. I thought I would ball like a baby, but I am actually holding it together pretty well. It's hard to leave this house, but I am convinced that God (not Smucker's) is the reason for our relocation.

Empty Rooms

So even though it hurts, this is goodbye. Goodbye to my beautiful house on Vine, and goodbye Orrville. Lexington is calling, and we must answer!

The Movers Are Here

The movers arrived today and will pack up the garage and basement. The rest of the house gets packed up tomorrow. This is getting real!

Our House on Vine

We are now one week away from moving to Kentucky. Although we're excited to see what God has in store for us in the city of Lexington, leaving our beloved Orrville home has been emotionally challenging... to say the least. I felt it was important to record videos of both the inside and outside of our home so we could remember what life was like at this very special property. Here's a video of our the outside of our home:

Oh, how we're going to miss this place! Here's the video of the inside:

At Long Last

After 7 trips down to Lexington over the last 6 weeks, we have finally found our home! God's timing was perfect... even though I had some doubts at times!

Red-Headed Viking

Here is Porter's most recent clay creation:

Porter's Clay Creation

He did this all by himself. I'm not sure where he gets his artistic ability, but it is definitely not from his mother or father! This is the coolest red-headed viking I have ever seen!

Pirate Stella

Stella confiscated Porter's pirate eye-patch today...

Stella the Pirate

I think she might be the most bedazzled and sparkly little pirate this world has ever seen!

Giant Playground Gratitude

For Mother's Day, Porter gave me this framed picture he made at school:

Porter's Present

I'm certainly glad I took him to the playground recently. I fear his board might have been blank otherwise!

Oh Boy

Perhaps the phrase, "a face only a mother could love," would be fitting here...

Lincoln Love

On my 34th birthday, Brian and I spent 10 hours in the car driving down to Lexington and then back again all in search for a home. We didn't find it.

Abraham Lincoln Mural in Lexington

However, we did find this 60' mural of President Abraham Lincoln on the Kentucky Theatre building located in downtown Lexington. It was painted by Brazilian artist Eduardo Kobra, and it simply gorgeous!
