Here's what I gathered from pumpkin patch #2. I just think these little guys are so cute!

Stella and I enjoyed our morning at a playground in Massillon. She liked climbing through the tunnels while I chased her around with the camera. It's the special relationship we have!

We had a great afternoon at one of our favorite places in all of Wayne County, Secrest Arboretum.
Brian and I love looking at all the various trees and plants, but the kids are really into the enormous slide!
We all enjoyed a lovely walk through the park.
Anytime my kids (as well as my husband) see a big rock, they have to climb it. It's just an automatic reaction with them all!
It was HOT though at the park, so after all of our walking, we went for frozen yogurt. It was a great day!

It's the second day of school and Porter seems quite pleased with kindergarten. He likes his classroom, his teacher, and his classmates (and, of course, he's a big fan of recess). Today, he jumped out of the car at drop-off, gave me a quick wave, and then ran into the school as happy as could be. The kid never looked back.
Stella, on the other hand, is not so thrilled with this new arrangement. She cries her little heart out when Porter enters the school doors, and it takes the entire ride home for her to recover. Although it's evident that she misses her brother while he's not at home, it does seem that she is enjoying her new one-on-one time with Mommy. I know I am definitely enjoying my time with her!

Here's Porter at his very first school drop-off. I really didn't think I would cry, but watching him walk into the school all by himself was a little more than my heart could bear. The tears started to flow!

We're only 1 day away from Porter going off to Kindergarten! After his haircut at Hy Street Barber Shop in Orrville, we headed to The Wilderness Center in Wilmot for our final summer vacation outing for the year.
This is our first visit to The Wilderness Center, but it definitely won't be our last. Although we were there for almost 2 hours, we weren't able to see everything it has to offer both inside and out.
We first started exploring the inside of The Wilderness Center. One of our favorite exhibits was the fully-functioning beehive.
Then we decided to head outside for even more adventure. Porter found this dead snake that absolutely made his day:
We also found the mother of all bat houses. Hopefully, this won't give Daddy any ideas!
While taking a rest on a bench, the kids shared a sweet, sibling hug... that quickly turned into a wrestling match (as they generally do).
We walked the 1.25 mile Pond Trail and saw lots of beautiful sites including the pier at Wilderness Lake, a large two-story observation tower that we just had to climb, and an observation shelter overlooking a frog-friendly pond. Of course, nothing really beats the trees in my opinion:
Stella was quite the trooper. She walked the entire trail up until the very end when she got a bug in her eye and needed held by her mommy. Of course, the end of the trail was a steep, uphill climb. The kid has impeccable timing!

Tonight, we had Porter's Kindergarten Open House where we had the opportunity to see meet his new teacher, Miss Bishop, as well as to tour Orrville's BEAUTIFUL elementary school. We were impressed!
In the cafeteria, the Orrville elementary staff had an assembly for all of the kindergarten students and parents to attend. Here's our little scholar listening carefully to all that is being said:

I can't believe my first born love will be off to kindergarten in less than a week! All prayers for Porter and his momma would be most appreciated!

One of my top ten FAVORITE restaurants has moved to Orrville!
The closest Baja West Coast Kitchen used to be over 30 minutes away in North Canton, and I would go as often as I could (which was about every 3-4 months). Now, Orrville's Baja is less than 2 miles from home. My YEAR has been made!

On our way home from Vermilion, we stopped by Schoepfle Garden in Birmingham. In a word: INCREDIBLE! We had no idea how great this little side trip was going to be!
Schoepfle Garden is a 70-acre wonderland of trees and botanicals that is meticulously maintained and nurtured by the Lorain County Metro Parks. If you ever get a chance to visit, you will not be disappointed!

With my two kids, any visit to a body of water must include a swimming excursion! Stella needed a few minutes to warm up to the lake, but Porter jumped in as soon as he got there.
You can barely see him, but that little blob of red is one happy, swimmer boy!

I was fortunate enough to spend the first 13 years of my life on Portage Lakes with East Reservoir in my backyard. We would have boat traffic at all hours of the day and night, and for whatever reason, I always found the sights, the sounds, and even the smells of life on a lake to be quite glorious. Today as we strolled along Vermilion's Main Street Beach, I was reminded of the many good times I experienced while growing up on a lake. It was a blessing to my soul!

While walking with the family on Main Street in Vermilion, I happened across this fortunate photo opportunity!
In celebration of my recent retirement from teaching, we're spending the next two days in Vermilion to be close to the waters of Lake Erie. We're so excited!

The boys decided to have a backyard campout this weekend. Daddy put up the tent and made the perfect fire to roast marshmallows and make s'mores.
Daddy and I LOVE to eat s'mores. However, the kids prefer to eat the chocolate and marshmallows right out of the package. Hey, whatever works!

Although new pumpkins are gourds are still popping up each day, we've gotten quite a collection over the last 2 weeks.
I'll be honest, I just LOVE these little guys! I check on them all at least twice a day... they have become a passion (or maybe more like an obsession)!

Today, we had a fun afternoon at the Cleveland Botanical Gardens. Here we are exploring the desert garden found in the glasshouse:
Seeing all of the butterflies in the rainforest garden was a real hit for the kids.
Brian and I always love walking through the outdoor gardens. However, at this time in our children's lives, enjoying the beauty of God's vegetation is really not their thing. There were much more enthralled by the mini-zipline they could ride.
Look at how well Stella is holding on to this zipline! She's growing up so fast.
