Happy 60th Birthday, Grandpa!

Tonight, we celebrated Grandpa Gauder's 60th birthday! Porter wanted to surprise Grandpa with a cake, balloons, and a $2 bill (Porter's treasured item that he felt his Grandpa should have as a birthday present).

Parker's Balloons, Cake, and Memory Book

I'm not sure Grandpa (aka Parker ~ which is not his actual name, but the name that Porter gave him as a baby) was too surprised by all this though. Porter explained every detail of our birthday plans to Parker at least a dozen times before the party!

Treacherous Toddler Sledding

Just to ease some fears... no toddlers were actually hurt in the filming of this video!

Porter's Ice Fishing Adventure

Porter has been begging me all week to go ice fishing at his Grandpa Gauder's pond. He even made his very own fishing pole out of yarn, tape, and a paperclip for the occasion. Below, you can see him trying out this curious creation:

Porter's Very Own Fishing Pole

After a few attempts, Porter decided that his "fishing pole" needed a longer line. He then switched over to his Scooby Doo pole and that's when things got interesting. He caught a huge bass!

Check out the size of this thing!

Porter's Awesome Catch

After catching this awesome bass, Porter and Grandpa walked home to fillet it. Grandpa even helped Porter fry up a portion of this fresh catch to enjoy. Porter loved every bite!

It was a great day for this little boy!

Dramatic Change in Color

Over the weekend, Brian worked hard to change the walls of our master bedroom from a burnt orange to a pale cream. He truly did a fantastic job patching and sanding the cracks and holes in the plaster, trimming, and then rolling two coats of paint over the walls for a dramatic change.

Daddy & Porter's Wall Art

Porter, who is always ready to lend a helping hand, also contributed to the walls of our bedroom as you can see above. Of course, Brian's hours and hours of work pales in comparison to Porter's three minutes of "little alien" paintings. They're just so darn cute!

Porter's Red Sled

With a beautiful, hilly cornfield in our side yard, we decided it was time to invest in a sled for Porter and Stella to enjoy during these snow-filled, winter months.

Daddy & Porter in the Snow

It's been too cold lately for the kids to get outside and enjoy the snow, but with today being in the upper 20's, we bundled Porter up in as many winter clothes as we could find and sent him out the door. Seriously... he has on 2 pairs of gloves and one pair of mittens, a long sleeve thermal shirt, a sweatshirt, jeans, his dad's scarf, his mom's hat, his winter coat and snow pants, and a pair of boots!

Bundled Up Porter

Porter loved every minute playing on his new sled. Hopefully, the weather will be nice enough that Miss Stella can get a ride on it in the days to come.

Porter and His Sled

I'm not sure if I love this video or not, but it was made using a free video editing service called Magisto. I think with a little more tinkering (on my end), it could be a really cool addition to our blog's video presentations.

Bundling Up

Here's Porter getting bundled up before braving all 29 degrees of today's bone-chilling, Ohio weather:
