Daddy made lots of new friends on his birthday at the Butterfly Conservatory.

As we walked through the conservatory, we were surrounded by over 2,000 butterflies in 45 different species. It was an amazing experience!

Dinner with a View

For dinner on Friday night, we went to the Keg Steakhouse that overlooks Niagara Falls. The food was good, but the view was even better!

Niagara Falls Weekend

In celebration of Brian's birthday, we headed to Niagara Falls for a family weekend. We were blessed to stay at Embassy Suites, a great hotel that not only overlooks the falls, but also sits right next to the Falls Incline Railway. This railway allowed us to travel easily back and forth from our hotel to the falls with a baby stroller, diaper bag, and all the stuff that goes along with traveling with small children. It was fantastic!

Brian and I were awestruck by the falls and could have watched it for hours. Of course, the kids were much more impressed with the hotel's pool.

Headlands Beach State Park

Today, we headed up to Headlands Beach State Park in Mentor, Ohio. Brian took the day off work since Monday was Memorial Day, and we thought it would be fun to have a 4-day family weekend.

The Kids at Headlands Beach State Park

The kids are always happy to be at the beach, even if it's not an ocean beach. They both love the sand and could play in it for hours if you let them.

Stella and the Shovel

Porter convinced us that he needed to take his digger and all of his sand toys to the beach. He did enjoy having them there, and Stella had a great time playing with them too.

Porter's Normal

I asked Porter to stand like normal and smile for the camera. This is what "like normal" means to him:

Stella's 15-Month Well Visit

Stella had her 15-month well visit today, and all was good. She is now 19 pounds and 14.2 ounces in weight (29th percentile), 2 feet and 6 inches in height (39th percentile) and has a head circumference of 45.5 centimeters (44th percentile). Our baby girl seems to be growing so fast.

Baby Botanist

Now that our Ohio nights are not falling below freezing, we moved the house plants to the porch for a little extra sun.

Stella is quite pleased with this new arrangement!

Vintage Tractor Show

On Saturday, our family headed south to Sugarcreek, Ohio for the annual Vintage Tractor Show.

Welcome to Sugarcreek

Porter was very hopeful that he would be able to buy a tractor at this show. He took his money (a few coins he had in Daddy's car) and looked for the right tractor to buy. He found a few that he liked, but was utterly disappointed that 30 cents would not get him very far.

After the tractor show, we headed to the center of downtown Sugarcreek to catch a glimpse at the World's Largest Cuckoo Clock. It's beautifully made at 23 feet tall and 24 feet wide.

Wagon Ride

For tonight's walk, we busted out the old wagon for a ride around the neighborhood. This was Stella's first time in the wagon, and she loved every minute of it!

Without any prompting, Porter did an excellent job of keeping Stella's blanket on her lap and holding her hand over the bumps while riding. It was a proud parent moment.

Birthday Treat for Momma

For my 32nd birthday, Porter (with some help from his Grandma Bev) made me some delectable chocolate cupcakes with sprinkles. Porter also reminded me, rather emphatically, of the importance of sharing. His argument was compelling enough that the two of us enjoyed the cupcakes together. They were delicious!
