Sand Babies

After our walk on the pier, Porter was anxious to get to the sand. He has been wanting to use his sand toys for quite some time and was ready to try them all out. Porter and Stella played in the sand for over an hour and would have easily played for another if we would have let them. They were definitely made to enjoy the beach!

Here are my babies playing in the sand:

Myrtle Beach State Park Pier

After our walk on the trail, we headed to the Myrtle Beach State Park Pier for a quick look.

Although the pier was nice, Porter enjoyed this sleigh pulled by seahorses the best!

Sculptured Oak Nature Trail

This year, we decided to check out the Myrtle Beach State Park for the very first time. We began our time at the park by taking a stroll on the Sculptured Oak Nature Trail.

The trees found on this trail were just beautiful, and Porter enjoyed climbing as many of them as he could!

Freezing Cold Ocean Water

Porter has been desperate to get on the beach since we arrived yesterday. We tried to tell him that the ocean water is rather frigid these days, but he wanted to experience it on his own. He actually withstood walking in the water quite well until he fell in and got his clothes all wet. He didn't seem to care until he was done playing and suddenly realized he was frozen to the bone. Needless to say, the way home was a bit miserable... for us all.

Breakfast Tradition

A Myrtle Beach tradition we have acquired is to have breakfast at least once at Akel's Family Restaurant. The food is always good and the service is tremendous. Before heading to the local outlet mall for a morning of Black Friday madness, we headed straight for Akel's to get fueled up for our shopping adventure!

Ready to Party

After a good hour and a half of unpacking, we're ready for a night out on the town. We might even get real crazy and stay out until 8PM!

Great Place to Stay

Brian found us a great place to stay in Myrtle Beach. The condo we're renting (it's the blue one) is absolutely beautiful, and the neighborhood is quiet and well-kept.

Our Home Away from Home

Although there are many great things about this condo, the best would have to be that it is only 2 blocks from the beach. Great find, Hubby!

First Stop in Myrtle Beach

After 11 hours in the car and multiple stops for restroom breaks and feedings, we have finally arrived to Myrtle Beach! Before even finding our condo, we headed straight to the ocean for a quick hello.

We're Getting Close

After leaving at 4AM for our trek down to South Carolina, we're making great time! Here's Stella at a rest stop in North Carolina. We're getting close!

Traveling in Style

We're less than 12 hours away from our Myrtle Beach road trip, and we're in full blown packing mode. Since we're traveling as a family of four now, Brian thought that the Civic would benefit with an extension. He is so proud of his new cargo tray!

Camping in the Attic

Brian decided that our attic would be the perfect place for a father and son camping adventure! He set up the tent so that he and Porter could camp-out in our very own home, without the snow or sludge that likes to come during these cold, Ohio months.

Tent in the Attic

Their first camping "trip" will be this weekend. Brian is super excited, but we're keeping it a secret from Porter until the actual day. He's going to freak out!

Sippy Cup Cheers

Here's Porter and Stella engaging in their daily sibling high jinks:

Best. Cheeks. Ever.

Not that I am biased, of course, but I think this kid takes the cake on the best set of cheeks to ever be seen!

Paint Stamping with Porter

Today, Porter tried his hand at paint stamping. He used lemons, oranges, apples, and even potatoes to help in his design. Nice!

Digging Through Old Photos

Brian has been asked by Smucker's to put together a presentation on his Olympic Training Center experience. Smucker's recently became an Olympic sponsor, and they are excited to have Brian share his story with the staff. We've been looking through old Tae Kwon Do pictures to add to the presentation. Here are a few of my favorites:

Gailey Park

Today, Porter did his best to properly evaluate the playground found at Gailey Park in Orrville.

Porter the Evaluater

Although there was plethora of viable playground equipment options for a three-year-old boy, the climbing wall far surpassed all the others from Porter's perspective.

Porter on the Climbing Wall

Overall, it was Porter's opinion that Gailey Park has a "good playground." I guess that says it all for this evaluation!
