After a lot of thought, Brian and I have decided to put our home in Ellet up for sale. This has come as a difficult decision, but one we feel is ultimately best for our family. Don't get me wrong, we love our home. We think it's absolutely adorable. It has charm, character, and fits our needs almost perfectly. The only problem--our home is in Akron, and Brian works in Orrville.
One of the cornerstones of our family is quality time. We take the amount of time we have together very seriously by keeping the number of distractions that force us from being apart at a minimum. This is one of the reasons we did away with television/cable over a year ago. Although we would sit in the same room together watching a program, there was really no quality time going on. I have to say, one of the best decisions we have ever made as a family was dropping cable all together. We had no idea the hold it had on us until after after it was gone.
For the last several months, it has become obvious that there's yet another distraction we need to eliminate. Brian spends over 300 hours a year driving to and from work, and this is time we want back. Although it is painful to see the "For Sale" sign in our yard, we know that we need to move closer to Orrville, if not to Orrville. Obviously, the housing market is not in great shape right now. We realize that it will only be by the grace and hand of God that our house sells. But regardless of what happens or the time table God uses, we feel that we took the first step towards reclaiming more time together. Where God takes that from here is His business, but we look on with anticipation to see what He does!
Today, Stella had her 2-3 month well visit with her pediatrician. She now weighs 10.36 pounds (25th percentile), has a height of 22.75 inches (75th percentile), and her head circumference is 38.5 centimeters (50th percentile). Dr. Post says she is growing beautifully!
For this visit, Stella was given two vaccinations in the leg. Although they were quite painful, she took them like a champ! However, these shots made her very sleepy, and she slept most of the day.
These pictures were taken right before we headed off to Orrville for a family lunch with Daddy. I told Porter he had to smile, or we wouldn't be able to leave. I'll admit, that's a pretty manipulative move, but I knew it would work! Porter loves visiting his Daddy at work!
The weather is finally starting to warm up here in Ohio! Today was in the low 70's, and we were able to open all the windows in our home and let the fresh air pour in.
Also, this afternoon we took a stroll along the Meadow Trail found at Munroe Falls Metro Park. It was medicine for our souls to be outside with the sun shining bright over our heads and a steady breeze keeping us cool.
Porter wasn't overly thrilled to sit for pictures today, but even with a grumpy face, I think he's still the cutest red-head around! As you can see, he eventually broke down and gave a smile when Stella managed to wrap her arm around his. They are so sweet together!
Stella is growing fast! She has officially moved from size newborn to 3 month clothing. It's been a blast seeing her in all new clothes. Here's an outfit that Stella received from our friends, Dave and Steph. It's just adorable!
Welcome to our blog! Here you will find the adventures of Brian, Autumn, Porter and Stella. Together, we are THE STEPHEN CLAN, a family who loves the great outdoors, exploring new places, rough housing, dinners out, and discovering God's fingerprints on our daily lives.
